How good is horsehair in a mattress?
Horsehair is the ultimate natural material to use in a mattress. If you look at the top end mattresses you find that they all use horsehair as a key breathable layer in their design.
Horsehair is open celled and hollow. This means it actively moves moisture away from the bed as you sleep. A build up of moisture is what causes you to over heat in the Summer and chill in the Winter.
But in a horsehair mattress this moisture is moved away from the surface and vented away from you and the mattress.
As well as creating a much more comfortable environment for you to sleep on it also helps preserve the lifespan of your mattress.
